Hi All,
I've got a 2012 Defender that came with a Sony radio deck and a real hack job of the wiring installation. The radio itself powers up and seems to work, but there isn't any sound getting to the speakers. I have opened it all up and made sure the wires are going where they are supposed to and I'm fairly confident I've got it sorted correctly. There's is the one Red/Orange wire that is leftover and I think it is used for illumination, so not needed in this case. Anyone have any suggestions as to why I am still not getting sound to my speakers since I am getting power to the head unit? Thanks! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

The 2nd connection from the bottom has two white wires on the left - are there two on the other side of the joint? It looks like there may be, but it is hard to tell. The loose wire may belong in there?
Also, it is worth pulling all the connectors from the radio and reseating them, in case it is a bad connection. |

it may be the radio not working properly - I have had this happen a couple of times over the years and the radio seems to work but the built in amplifier stops working giving no output to the speakers ...
maybe try another head unit or connect another speaker directly to the old head unit to see if that works ? Is that photo before or after you "got it sorted correctly"?

Sorry for the late response.
Yes, that was after I got it sorted It was even more of a mess before then. I finally figured out that the radio itself was the issue. Did a bit of "swaptronics" with a buddys same radio and his worked perfectly fine with my speakers. Thanks for the help. |
