Nice
I've put a grab handle on the passenger side of my 90 too, looks like it should have been there from the factory 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

I was only going to do the drivers side as without the steering wheel fitted there's nothing to grab hold of when getting in but like you say when fitted they look like the handle should be there so fitted passenger side too .

They fit in the existing screw holes already there in the pillars, the screw placement is exactly right, its as if land rover knew...

I've been thinking about this mod for the passenger side. If the handles are fixed into the existing A-post screw holes, are they actually any good, you know, for grabbing.
Also, has anyone tried this with the extra deep A-post trims? I was thinking about getting a pair so that my rear washer pipe doesn't get crushed...again. Thanks |

I replaced the screws on mine with some M4 pan head bolts, which gripped a lot more solidly. Darren

My understanding is that the fixings are currently screws, so can you kindly explain to an amateur how to replace with bolts Rob 1993 200tdi 90 hard-top 1998 300tdi 90 soft-top 2016 2.2 XS 90 hard-top (sold) |

The size isn't far off M4 anyway so I rather brutally forced them in. If I had the correct sized tap then I would have run that through first but the alloy frame is relatively soft and it's worked ok. I've been able to remove and reinsert the bolts without issue. Darren

The original screws? Yes, it seems so. Darren

Are you confident the self tappers will take the wait of a grown bloke pulling themselves into the truck using just the handle? They're only designed to hold a bit of plastic trim in place.
