Wise ones
Just changing the rear hub oil seals and my new seal is stamped with one side towards stub axle. Am I right in thinking that this side faces out front the rear of the hub towards the centre of the car? What I should have done was check the old one before I yanked it out, but that sort of thing is for sensible people Thanks Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

As for checking the old one first, one of mine was the wrong way around!

Why thank you sir A picture as they say... On seals like this one that have a hollow internal half and a sticky-outy half the hollow half always goes towards the greasy bearings and the sticky-outy half to the outside towards the elements. |

I have no idea, but I wouldn't use it. Looks almost like it has been welded and ground down again.

Make sure you change the stub axle seal whilst its apart

Yeah, as it goes that was the one that was actually leaking...badly.
