Bunny - the great Puma update.

Well, after seeing so many ongoing blogs, I thought it was time to do my own.
A huge thank you to all contributors and responders to questions for help.

I have done many things to Bunny in the 18+ months I have owned her - lots of security upgrades. New wipers wheel boxes, cable, washer jets, pipes and one way valves. New double din dash and apple car play stereo with USB power plugs. Lots of led dash bulbs. Led footwear lights. Heated seats and mirrors. Drivers seat extended runners. Heater deflector and glove box. Crystal headlamps and long range bulbs with upgraded wiring loom. A frame and steering ball joints. Fuel tank breather pipe renewed. Cb radio and aerial recently added.

This weekend saw the addition of LED body lights, high level brake light- waiting for the led number plate lamp to arrive.

I also very foolishly started replacing all of the brake pads, discs, callipers, swivel seals and other seals this weekend.

Right hand rear pads, discs, callipers replacement went very well. Not so much the left rear - looks like the wheel bearing has over heated at some point so I struggled to remove the hub, leaving the seal and inner bearing in place. Censored . Managed to persuade the bearing off eventually, ordered a new one and shut down for the day.

Photos to follow soon.

All done. 4 challenging days across a few weeks. I ended up needing left front and rear wheel bearings.
Several test drives later, the brakes are settling in a treat and there are no leaks yet.
The hard work of searching for all the different bits paid off!!!!!

These were for the clock - much better - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191416871350?mk...edia=EMAIL

These were for the dash/heater controls - again much brighter - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261260023574?mk...edia=EMAIL

I hope this helps. Regards. Mat 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

Nice job!

I really think it's worthwhile documenting your build as so much time and effort goes into the planning and design, let alone the time doing the work. TD5 hardtop to Puma inspired Poptop - my build thread

Indeed. That was four tough days to do the brakes and seals. Costs were more than I had planned - bit it was worth it. Plus all the work I did at the start of ownership.
Completely forgot I had put one pice drive shafts in the rear until I pulled them out! 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

I received the lights today, wanted to change them, but when you said click did you mean the speed clock or the time? I tried to change the lights in the speed dash, but could not find any…

Hi. I replaced the bulbs in the time clock and also the dash heater controls. I know some have changed the speedo and rev counter bulbs but I haven't. Yet! 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

I take my hat off to you to take that much work on. Thumbs Up

Regards dash LED’s, I did that before but was very disappointed.
At first, they seemed great, brighter, cooler running etc.
Then they started flickering, on and off some went off completely others didn’t.
Some worked fine permanently, others kept flashing, others stopped working.
In the end, I replaced them with standard ones again back to where I started as they actually seemed to last longer than the LED’s.
Mind you if you have good LED’s they might be great but mine were duff.
I was going to replace the clock bulb for LED also, but glad I didn’t as I could see the same happening.
Hope that yours are better than the ones I had.

What drive flanges where you thinking of for the front? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I tried two types of LED. The ones with the single wires in the base didn't work well at all. The ones with the printed circuit board style have been excellent.

After a very tough off road weekend on Salisbury Plain I am pleased to say my hard work all paid off.

As for drive flanges - I used a second hand Disco Series 1 solid pair on the back (lots of noise gone) straight swap. As for the fronts, I have stuck with the originals, cleaned greased and refitted with original shims and spacers, all is working
