Hi all.
Is it possible to have this activated as I don’t think I have it? Thank you "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce 11MY Defender 130 23MY Defender 110 D300 HSE X-Dynamic https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzrHKcjA-LJ470_H4QwPgVA |

Thank you.
Do you perhaps have a link for the Powerful video? I can’t find it. JLR Retrofits can’t help me remotely. Can JLR do this at the dealerships? In my experience with having adaptive cruise on my VW... don't do it!
I much prefer good old cruise control and specifically went for the S-level trim in the Defender to avoid getting adaptive cruise. |

I had it on my BMW and thought it was brilliant especially for those long highway trips "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

I find it a bit annoying. If the lane in front suddenly clears and I have been travelling below my chosen speed, it accelerates much harder than I would in normal driving. I think I prefer to only use it on empty roads which is when I don't need it.

Maybe the Land Rover system is better than the VW one, but I HATE it. Firstly, it drives in the same manner as the car in front. So if they brake hard, so do you. In traffic, the car has no ability to look ahead, so it can be very jerky and uncomfortable rather than just keeping a steady speed. It won’t undertake on the motorway which, I know, I know, you shouldn’t do anyway, but middle-lane driving is endemic and I find it more dangerous constantly going from lane 1 to 3 and back to 1. Plus, on the M25, filter lanes can be up to a mile long before you actually turn off. If the main carriageway is doing 40mph, so are you, even though the filter lane is totally clear. When a car up ahead is turning off, I would ease off the accelerator. But when in adaptive cruise, it just slams on the brakes. And it takes ages to realise the car has cleared the road so I’m just sitting in the road like an idiot. There’s too many times I need to take over from the system that it’s easier to just not use it. Which is a shame because in my Land Rover (sans adaptive) I use cruise all the time. 20 zones, 30 zones, towns, motorways - almost everywhere. |

He removed it for some reason, maybe as he was trying to keep in Land Rovers good books Cheers Ian -------------------- 22MY Defender 110 D200 SE, Fuji White. Kielder 4x4 Safari Instagram @defender_v8 |

Just turn it off and use normal cruise control. Long press the up button on the distance setting function on the steering wheel and you get normal cruise not adaptive. |

Adaptive cruise is the best feature going, use it all the time well worth it.
Btw constant speed on an inner lane going past cars in the right lanes slower is not undertaking. Mike |

Maybe in a Land Rover but not in a VW. It’s adaptive or nothing. |

That's literally the definition of undertaking. To pass a car on the inside. |

I like it a lot! I don’t find it annoying, it’s a great assistance. There’s some clever tricks in there, like if you indicate to pull out to overtake a slower car, it delays it’s slow down a few yards to let you get out smoothly.
Likewise, if someone moves into the gap in front, it doesn’t slow unless the vehicle in front is slower than you, it lets the gap grow. Yes I agree it can be annoying if there are middle lane hoggers in front, but that’s not the cars fault. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |
