I changed the inlet seals as I was there but didn’t really need to. So I could have got away with just the glow plugs

Job is now done. Ironically, it is mild now so it started very easily when I went to move it this morning
They were all pretty tight but a bit of wiggling with a set of mole grips had them out easily enough. Took a couple of hours but as ever, that also included time spent cleaning and also hunting for a replacement nut for one of the glow plug terminals that I managed to drop on the drive never to be seen again. Time will tell if it cures the staring problem. |

Quick update after a bit more use. Starting is greatly improved, only needing a couple of cranks to fire up and the white smoke is no more.
Let's hope it stays this way if it cools down again |

Do you guys measure resistance of the glow plugs before or do you change them on suspicion? Starting problems might have other reasons as well

I didn't but I know that others have done.
I did test them once they were out but I recon even if they did glow I would have changed them. |
