How about a Hella socket? Much more robust than a cig. lighter one and rated at 10amps. With an appropriate fuse in line, could also double as a permanent live power point. Darren

I use a CTEK maintainer on my motorbike (which has a factory fitted hella socket by the ignition barrel) and it works great.
I used the supplied battery fly leads, cut off the ring terminals and wired it into a hella plug. As LRA suggests, much stronger than the CTEK connector and useful for other things (tyre pump in my case)  2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

If you go with the CTEK plug: their "comfort indicator panel" snaps into a Carling switch bezel, which might look good if you have some Carlings.

No I’m stuck, I ordered a panel mount Ctek adapter (I had never seen them before) but then saw the 13 pin towering socket cable reply which I do like the idea of...... hmm the choices, I’m a bloke I don’t do choices!

This thread is good timing for me as I am assembling a few ctek bits to do something similar. I now have the dash mount connector but I intend to fit it to the outside of my 110. Reason, I do not want a cable through the door. I have the 'trailing' socket fitted to my series one which just tucks behind the grill and seems waterproof. Looking at the dash mount I have seen examples on boats motorbikes and quad bikes so Im sure its going to be ok. Que drill this weekend....... 2010 XS USW

I use the 13 pin tow plug as suggested by Martin. I originally toyed with the idea of fitting a Ctek panel but didn't like the thought of cutting a hole somewhere in my Defender. (there's enough corrosion inherited from Lode Lane without me adding to it

I did mention Martin's socket in my post....however, for that you work you must have a 13 pin towing socket or a 7 pin with battery connection (12S) - the older 7 pin (12N) sockets do not connect to the battery. |

If like me you have the 7 pin 12N towing socket installed, easy to add the 12S to the truck. The genuine from Land Rover is very good quality. Easiest option to connect the Ctek, no need to even unlock the truck.

As I expect has happened to others on here, my Puma chirped as I started it on Saturday.
I really like the idea of one of Martin's adaptors. The 12S Socket looks good. I had a 13 pin on my last Focus and I have to say, I always thought it felt a better connection than the 12N's I had on other vehicles. My point is, how difficult is it to install the 12S or the 13 pin socket? ericvv has a genuine LR 12S (I like that idea as my truck is just about stock), do LR do 13 pin kits as well? Also, any recommendations for which Ctec charger for continual charging the truck? |

Re your last question, the CTEK MXS 5.0 should be more than adequate
More powerful ones will charge it faster, but that is not necessarily a good thing. |

I have seen that Duckworth's do both the Sockets as LR branded. Just interested to know is it a plug and play or is it a bit more involved? I have a 2014 Puma 110 Utility |
