New tyres finally arrived & fitted… really happy with them.
A tad taller and a tad wider than the standard 255s, but no clearance issues at all. And not worried about the sidewalls like the Goodyear Wrangler ATs which seem to be really prone to issues. Think the car sits really nicely on them too. Click image to enlarge Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Any changes in road noise or ride quality since you’ve fitted your BFGs?

Certainly there will be a little more noise than the road tyres I have had on for the last few weeks, but nothing like as bad as the Duratracs or other mud terrain-style tyres. I’ve always run BFG ATs on my old defenders and always thought they’ve been a good compromise.
If anything, slightly wider and taller tyres should help the ride quality a bit, but no real noticeable change. Should be a big improvement off-road where I’ll be happier airing down a bit if needed. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Hi David
Any problems with rubbing when in access mode and turning the wheels hard left or right? Simon |

You can use any of the online calculators; but it’s only small, about +1.9% from memory. Certainly not noticeable and probably if anything just correcting for the slight ‘under read’ from factory. Cheers, David

Strictly, the error will be a % not a mph number. The 1.9% increase in rolling radius would translate to around a 1.4mph ‘under-read’ at 70mph and a c.0.7mph ‘under-read’ at 35mph.
I wouldn’t have thought that would even be enough to fully cancel out the usual built in ‘over read’ on the speedo but haven’t checked it against GPS myself. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

damn those look better. I just fitted 275/55/20's but those look much better with the slightly higher sidewall. My compromotives dont fit the new D300 due to the rear brakes and as its only got 400kms on it I am not brave enough to take the grinder to it yet.
