Remember that the New Defender is a 5+2 seats not 7 seats.
In the Discovery 4, that was a very 7 seats the space for the last 2 was..."decent"... DISCOVERY 4 2013 VOLVO XC90 2017 MY23.5 110 D250 SE in Santorini Black |

edit: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90714.html?highlight=cup I read a thread, on here recently, saying the 3rd row cup holders were a pain as they get in the way, when wanting flat floor, I now understand why. |

There are cup holders but no space for your legs?

You do have to slide the rear seat forward a bit but then the room isn’t too bad on the 3rd row for occasional use MY23 D250 Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE, Carpathian Grey, 7 Seat, Electric Towbar

I have the 7 seat 110.
You can remove the cup holders, it’s a torx screw. Different size vs the interior side panels mind you. Unless you’re using the maximum width of the cargo area, it hasn’t really gotten ‘in my way’. My kids are in primary school and it fits the +2 bill. They’ve been sat there happily for 2+ hour stints. Anyone over 160cm (5’3” ish…) would struggle if over an hours drive. As mentioned sliding the middle row forward does help. I did fit 2 carry on suitcases behind the 3rd row, and 2-3 soft bags on top in the space between the back of the tall headrests and window. More than I thought I could fit… 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

The cool thing about the 7-seater is that the second row can slide forward and backward. This allows to to prioritise storage or legroom as your needs change. It adds about 6" (150mm) to the boot space when the seats are all the way forward. |

But because the 2nd row slide backwards and forwards in the 7-Seat they don't also fold completely flat.
So there is a choice to be made. 5 seats and the option to fold everything flat behind the front row. Or 7 seats and the front 1/2 of the load bay is angled up when then the 2nd row are folded down. It's a ridiculous situation to be honest and yet another compromise with the design. The fact that you can't have a flat load bay in the 130 is similarly daft. |

Nasher- The 7 seater does fold pretty much flat. To me there's hardly anything in it vs. the 5 seater. You need to really push down/jump down hard on the seat backs for them to lock into place.
Someone has posted a pic in another thread... 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

Thanks Heymeister, I think that image is a little deceiving.
The seats in it obviously are not flat, but I've looked at 3 different 7 seat 110s since that image was posted and in the flesh no matter how hard I push I can't get them as flat as that looks, or flat enough for my needs. Even with my full 15 st on them. The 5 seaters I've looked at go a lot closer to properly flat. |

I hope they did not remove that mechanism/feature in the newer 110s...
Was curious myself so went out for a measure... With the boot at a measured 0 degrees, the middle row when folded and clicked down was +4 degrees. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

I appreciate you looking Heymiester.
None of the 110s I've looked at are new, by any means. I think the newest one was a 22MY I think it's one of those things that's going to depend on manufacturing tolerances on each rear seat base, back and mechanism. |
