 2003 Defender 110 Td5 G4 Challenge Tangiers Orange
Well, since the last post, we have finally moved back to the Lake District. The Defender works very well in the dry stone walled lanes being slightly narrower than the D3 and L322. This week it became acquainted with the local MOT tester who gave it a clean pass! Hopefully a Clarke temporary garage will be arriving to enable a Campervan project to be finished off but also to all a dry space to tackle outstanding jobs on the Defender too.

 2003 Defender 110 Td5 G4 Challenge Tangiers Orange
This weekend, we had the first taste of spring here in the lakes. Warm sunshine prompted me to think about camping which meant the new to me roof tent had to go on. The ox overland that I did have fitted , a tent that we took all the way down to Morocco over the Atlas Mountains and through the Sahara, is a superb bit of kit. It’s just when your travel involves packing away each day and you’re getting on a bit, climbing all over the Defender takes time out of travelling. So, it will hopefully be finding a new home of the roof of 2006 G4 Challenge UK competitor Brians Freelander 1, which is Tangiers Orange of course!

The replacement tent is an iKamper Skycamp 2.0 mini which has very similar dimensions to the Ox but weights about 10kg less and takes sub 5mins to pack away. It’s got a few nice features and a plush quilted roof liner complete with a map of the world on it.

So, roll on the lighter evenings and warmer weather to enable me to do some work on the oily bits.
