300tdi brakes issue
Hi all, hope you can help. Got a 89 300tdi def 90. Jumped into it last night to take it for a spin cuz it spends of us life parked in garage and noticed my brake pedal was very hard and almost no brakes at all. Any thoughts of what this could be guys? Thanks

Check your brake servo is working and is being provided with a vacuum.

Before starting engine pump brake pedal, and each pump it should get higher, then whilst holding pedal down, start engine a pedal should fall.

Also once after engine has stopped try pulling the supply pipe out of the servo, and it should hiss, as it should be holding a vacuum.

A bit back-to-front there @landy andy

Pumping the pedal with the engine off should get the pedal harder/higher. If you then hold the pedal down and start the engine the servo assistance should pull the pedal down a bit.

Corrosion round the back of the servo affecting vacuum is quite common on older vehicles
