Where to put my gas cap when refueling
My defender has a tethered gas cap, and a detail on the inside of the fuel door (flap) that looks like it was meant to place the cap there while refueling it. But the tether won’t let me place it there. Is that meant for what I assume it is? Or am I just supposed to let it dangle against the car?

I place mine in the semi circular cut out which I think is what you are alluding to, I know I have to slide the tether around sometimes to get it to fit correctly. Cheers Ian

Excellent. Got it now. I was trying the wrong part of the cap, then I tried the tether itself (as another car of mine does). Thanks.

Your tether is probably stretchier than mine.

Mine just hangs on the tether, is that not what it’s for?

So does the cap sit in that indent, or does the tether? I can never get any part of the cap to sit in the indent, it always falls off and bangs into the car. I’m sure I’m just doing it wrong.

This is mine and the cap sits in the indent. Hopefully you can see from the pictures how it should sit.

Ok, that’s what I keep trying. My tether has so much spring in it, it just pulls the thing off!
Maybe I’ll take a heat gun to the tether and see if I can get some of the spring out of it. Thanks for the clarification!

I keep trying to sit the cap in that groove but as soon as I shove the petrol nozzle in the filler neck it knocks the cap off its perch!
