10AS Alarm and Nanocom on 2010MY USW 110
My alarm keeps going off.

Yesterday I checked the events in the 10AS unit using my Nanocom. Although it went off more than 4 times, there were only two events stored which said "volumetric unit".

When I locked the car with the fob, I checked all doors and they were all locked so can I discount a lock actuator issue that others have had with alarm going off?

I cleaned out all spider webs in the vicinity of the volumetric sensors. This morning the alarm wen off again. However, the Nancom now says it cannot communicate with the 10AS unit.

Does this mean my alarm ECU is kaput? Any other ideas?
I am trying to upgrade the firmware of my Nanocom to the latest ( as I now have v1.10) but my credentials to the restricted area at BackBox Solutions do not work so I have emailed support and waiting for them to revert.

To eliminate the volumetric sensor you can pop it out of the trim panel and unplug it. The previous owner of my Td5 did this as he left his dogs in the vehicle and didn’t RTFM to work out how to deactivate it.

Try this, if your alarm continues to misbehave you need to look deeper.

Have you had a look at the 10AS unit to see if it has got wet due to water ingress? It would be worth removing it to give it a close inspection.

To do so remove the drivers footwell speaker and look up and you can see it. Remove the two connector plugs and see if there is any moisture or corrosion on the pins etc, then remove the two screws holding the 10AS to enable it’s removal and inspection.

So firmware update on the Nanocom enabled reading of 10AS.
Only event was "volumetric sensor open"

Have disconnected it and turned alarm on (by locking with keyfob)

Is there any other way to test the volumetric sensor?

Open one of the windows, lock the car with the alarm set, then (once the alarm has set which takes a few seconds) stick your arm through the open window and wave it in front of the sensor.

Alarm activation = working sensor, no alarm activation = faulty or disconnected sensor.

Thanks Mr Wolf

Sounds obvious now when I read what you have said!!

A new one is £321 inc VAT Surprised

Also whilst it may well work with something in the car ( can always leave the dog in there), the fault it is exhibiting is it is being activated when I am not expecting it to be (have removed spiders from the vicinity)
