Defender TD5 mindbender breakdown - help required
So, Puma is behaving itself now, BUT the TD5 has unusually turned bandit BIG TIME!!!!

Driving along minding my own business and got a sudden loss of power, so bad that eventually it slowed down so much that first gear low on tick over was the only way forward. Any sign of giving it throttle means loads of grey white smoke and puffs of black out the exhaust.

It ticks over like a good’un with the waste gate removed only; the waste gate is moving freely. I have looked / done the following and am baffled:

Intercooler pipes
All rubber hoses to the turbo have been checked and are not collapsed.
With all the hoses disconnected it runs just as bad
Fuel pressure regulator was new but I took it off anyway and put in new seals (PITA)
Nanocom is not logging any faults
Last fuelled about 100 miles ago, so no petrol in there by mistake
EGR removed a long time ago
No oil loss
Temperature is normal
Running on 5
No oil in water and vice versa
Took exhaust off and no blockage / no oil just normal soot in the pipe
Injector loom was changed and is fine with no signs of oil in ECU red plug
Tried my spare ECU and got the same results
Turbo - no signs of oil or swarf in turbo and it spins freely
Cleaned the crank position sensor
Fuel pump is going fine and if you undo the filter it’s Censored ing out as normal.

WTF is it guys… HELP I'm loosing the will to live!

Fuel filter?

Assume from above that pump sounds good on prime ?

ECU?

lf oil gets into it (maybe from a previous injector harness failure) it can cause all sorts of issues.
