Exhausts
I’ve decided that my V8’s exhaust is nothing short of pathetic. Unlike my Td5, it doesn’t trigger my tinnitus, and so it’s too quiet Whistle

There don’t seem to be any proper off the shelf options for a 3.5 110, meaning a custom job has to be the best way forwards.

I would take it to Demand, but they’re hardly local to me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an exhaust fabricator around the Cotswolds or SW London/Surrey?

Cheers! Charlie

There are off the shelf items, for example the Double-S system which I bought for mine:

The manifolds were touching the chassis rails so I ended up ditching them, but hey it was off the shelf Razz 2005 Td5 90 XS

I built the system on my 100" Bowler using parts from Jetex, it's a bit like lego.

I used 2.0" for the y-piece to 2.5" thereafter - might be worth a look if you can weld.

I had seen that system, but comments about the headers touching the rails have put me off. How does it sound though? Charlie

I'll tell if I ever get it started... I ended up using cast manifolds and welding a connection piece on. Like you I couldn't weld before this project either, now I'm addicted to welding Very Happy (although many would say I still can't weld) 2005 Td5 90 XS

Ah, righto Laughing

It’s something I’d love to learn, but don’t have a workshop to support the kit needed. Charlie

Just fit RRC/Disco one 3.9 manifolds, RRC/D1 twin front pipes and y section, then bolt straight up to the standard TD5 110 silencer and tail pipe. You will need the TD5 exhaust mounts and bolt on chassis brackets too. This is much better than the SS tiny system and gives a nice deep note

If it is of any interest I have a pair of genuine V8 manifolds taken from a V8 90 surplus to requirements and I'd be glad to sell them. They're in good condition and fully usable, and also include the heat shield thingy in the photo.

I rather suspect that you have an identical pair already fitted to your motor though.

I think I’ve decided I’ll go for 3.9 manifolds with a custom system from there back.

So, does anyone have any 3.9 manifolds for sale? Whistle Charlie

I've got some 3.9 manifolds fitted to mine (sorry, can't help with any more Laughing ) with this solution for the exhaust:

As mentioned, it's a decent sound, nice and deep without being tinny, and a sensible noise level. I did find that a set of BBW needles also lifts the drivability and throttle response. 90 V8 CSW - 1988

Don't know if this will help - here's a sound clip of the TD5 exhaust on a 90 with 3.9 manifolds

I used a guy at the garage in Oare near Marlborough to make me a stainless system for my series 1, which runs a 2.5l petrol with ACR SU carb and branch manifold.
Not cheap but he made a good job.

I’ve got a set of 3.9 manifolds to work with now, but I’m going to have a bespoke system made at a place near Stroud. Charlie
