Ignition barrel maintenance?
My Landy's ignition barrel has been sticky a few times.

It'll take a second longer to return after starting the Landy. First startup only and not every day, maybe once a week.

This usually happens when it gets colder here.

Is there a way to give it some maintenance?
I know that lubricant isn't supposed to be used on locks. Maybe contact cleaner?

Abus do a specific lubricant for locks, I use it on my external barrels and fuel cap after that started sticking. I imagine it would be suitable for this as well.

Will try and see if it's available here, but I doubt it. Lubrication of locks isn't a big thing in Africa Mr. Green

The reason why lubrication of locks is not recommended the lube will attract dirt, and dirt will make it worse. Possibly this also applies for the ignition barrel, especially if you keep the vents under the windscreen open.

Best lube for locks is actually graphite powder, as is a dry lubricant.
If you cannot get hold of graphite powder, just run a pencil (without the wooden part) on sand paper, and voila instant powder Laughing

Just bear in mind that the ignition is made of 2 main components- the lock itself and the switch behind it. It could be a switch problem not a lock problem. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I know about graphite but how do you get the powder in when the lock is mounted?

I used to have a can of dry graphite lube in like a solvent suspension. You squirted it in with an aerosol, the solvent flashed off leaving the graphite behind. Something like this: https://www.silmid.com/lubricants/graphite...l-Aerosol/ 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
