Have a look behind the dash.... sounds like a poor connection being jogged by the fan leaver. These weren't standard, it's possibly an after market add on so might have bodged wiring in need of a repair

You might check the voltage.
When my Alternator died while off-roading, on the way home the rev counter was the first thing that stopped working. The tachometer on my Td5 receives its signal from the ECU not the alternator. I wonder if you have some connection or earthing issues with the instrument pack?

As its down past the zero mark I'm pretty certain it'll be a power problem rather than a signal problem.
Mine sits like that with the ignition off, then when you turn on the ignition the needle rises to zero. I'm sure you'll find a poor connection behind the dash binnacle 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |
