Great looking 90. I’m a Recaro fan, they have made a big difference to the comfort in the car for me.

Try some out. I went to a Corbeau seller near Leeds. Excellent service and you can admire some 22" alloys at the same time (it's very 'pimp my ride')

I have a 110 XS Station Wagon - always found the original seats uncomfortable on a long journey. Went for the Exmoor Trim Elite Sports seats. Great job - great side support and comfort - not to mention good looking - black leather with black stitching. It's now possible to do 300 - 400 miles a day and not be completely broken at the end of it. One bonus - they have the best seat heaters I have ever experienced. When I enquired about a set Exmoor Trim wanted payment up front and there was a wait of about 3 months. Not being prepared to do that I spoke to my local indy - BLRC - they were able to order them and pay prior to dispatch. As soon as they arrived I paid them.

I think it was LK Performance in Cleckheaton. They had a few seats in their showroom. You'll feel very out of place in Defender unless you've low profile tyres and dropped suspension!
They have an astonishing range of polish and car wax too. Nice to deal with though. Closer to Leeds is Purple Dot in Horsforth. Not sure how much they do. Sorry to be so vague - it was 5 years ago and there are no emails as it was all done on the phone. |

Comfortable seats is a very subjective subject and depends on your height, weight, shape and body/limb ratio.
That said I've found the Land Rover standard seat to be the most comfortable seat I've ever driven in and I can do a 300 mile full tank run without discomfort. Try out as many as you can before buying and difficult as it may be, try and imagine how they will feel after a few hours in them. I've got the Corbeaus in the 110 and Puma XS seats in the 130 .
The Corbeaus hold you better. We had a 16 hour drive back from the Hebrides at the end of last year in the 130 though and the standard XS seats were more than comfortable. |

You will find multiple threads on RX8 seats or similar.
I fitted RX8 seats to my 2014 Utility and they are excellent (yes extra work to fit and keep access to battery, but MUCH cheaper) |

My XS seats at 40000 miles are splitting on the leather and I have noticed the foam on one side is collapsing. This maybe due to me needing to go on a diet, but I am pretty disappointed in them.
I'm not sure what to make of Exmoor? they seem to be very Marmite. People love them or hate them. I am following this thread carefully. I suppose my option would be to refurbish the existing seats. I agree with others, they are not the most comfortable |

Ignore any comments that suggest that your spec. for a Land Rover is wrong. I've had several from the '70's each modified to do exactly what I needed/wanted at the time, toy, workhorse and now continental cruiser. Your ride, your choice. More to the point I'm 6'2 15(ish) stone and regularly do 300+ miles a day. My 2010XS standard seats are good for me. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

I'm with Mo on this one, I've not come across a Defender seat that comes close to the standard Puma front seat in terms of comfort. I just hope one day I'll be able to upgrade the seats in my Grenadier to standard Puma seats. |

Firstly, congratulations on Defender ownership and finding the best Defender forum!
As for seats and soundproofing etc. Drive it for a while and you'll soon decide what needs doing first. You might find several other things that need doing first! Especially, if you're on this forum! Security is a first!! Search for ideas on here. Soundproofing makes a huge difference. Seats I've never changed, as find them OK. But anything other than Recaros would be second best IMO and I just can't justify the cost so Recaros yet... You can upgrade the foam and covers on the standard frame to the later XS seats (shown above), which is a far cheaper option. Keep us posted and we do like photos! Hello bertie67 and welcome to D2N Seats Very subjective decision... the originals or versions of them are IMO more than up to the job. I personally like the 'more upright than reclined' driving position and can quite happily drive a 90's tank distance (of around 300miles) with no ill effects. I've been in a few Defenders that have had 3K+ spent on two front seats and I really don't see that the gain is worth that sort of spend... the somewhat limited geometry that applies here also will be a factor. 'Recommendation' Start with Security A search on here will set the scene... Good Luck... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |
