Can you factory reset the ECU 2.2 Puma?
Ive read that so far two things are possible-

disconnecting the battery and touching the positive and negative factory battery wires together

I also read a quick on off of the key 5 times can have an effect to clear codes

Without a code reader, can the ECU be brought back to factory settings?

If its the DPF error you're trying to clear, I tried both those options and neither cleared the fault unfortunately. Needed a Hawkeye to reset "parameters" to clear the error, then all fine. Thumbs Up James

With the right tool and knowing where to look its simple apparently, but...

Do you have a local LR Specialist with an ECU reader? James

For Diagnostics, I use an OBDLINK MX+ https://m.gendan.co.uk/product_OBDLINKMX.html
This has its own very useful diagnostics and software package - but I use it with FORSCAN (FordScan) that has limited support for Land Rover diagnostics and trouble code reading and reset.
You can register for a free PC based version of FORScan (3months) to test it. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

See what Alive tuning can offer, you can get a tool to clear your DTC codes and a tune at the same time if you want.
Should be possible to do so remotely by post / mail.

I’m not sure what the 2.2 Puma system is like but if it’s anything like the 2.4 like mine and the ATRIC device I have you can swap between factory map and tune map, you can also read DTC fault codes and erase them if you want to or need to say after fitting new parts.

Maybe an idea anyway, other devices do have live data on them though which is a different entity but an idea that I thought I’d mention which may be of interest to you.
You should be able to do that from home too. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Forscan is free for most of its functions - at least the ones that most owners would want.

But, last notes I saw indicated it doesn't work with a 2.2, which the OP has? Ok with a 2.4 and the earlier ECU(my experience), but not a 2.2.

Yup I've had no luck with Forscan on my 2.2

Currently just basic obd stuff which is annoying. Are there any pc based diagnostic programs to try before shelling out 500 on a nanocom that's not 100% reliable?

Before going down the Nanocom route for a 2.2 I would read this https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic80973...om+working

Inaccurate display of sensor readings.
Inability to code injectors
Issues with ALM ECU support.

All above still need addressing.

Looking on line some companies are selling the JLR SDD system plus cable that you can run on your own laptop. Some of these say you get a lifetime license but no idea what that means, but given our vehicles went out of production in 2016 and they say the installed version is at a 2021 build I don’t suppose we will need any updates.

Anyone have such a system and can advise on how well it performs.

Ace, that was what I was trying to avoid with the Nanocom.

I have a Mongoose nee Mangoose cable coming from https://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/jlr...rover.html

And I've got IDS/DSS from the Jag thead https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/jaguar...ll.108460/

Thanks to matchap801

I shall probably make a thread on how all this works/fails miserably when it arrives.

Yer. Would be nice to know if or how it works. The tool looks not too bad at first glance.

I’m really interested the in results on how mongoose cable plus ids/SDD works, after all it is the dealer system.
Looking at the links provided I have an idea that the SDD130 version available covers vehicles up to 2012, so would cover the 2.4 but not necessarily the 2.2, there are however later versions of SDD out there that go up o 2020.
Lots more research to do.

According to some more knowledgeable people v154/7 is the one to go for on the 2.2 as it doesn't want to ask online. I shall find out.

Itsdashy. My Mongoose cable arrived today. The older version IDS software in VMWARE didn’t work (USB ISSUE). However. The software supplied in CD worked a treat. Lots of tinkering with my CSW this afternoon and very pleased
Does anyone know if it’s possible to get the EKA Key code using this cable and IDS SDD? 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.
