Engine swap
I have a newer take out engine to replace the tired lump in mine.

We will also be doing the gearbox and transfer at the same time.

As I have never done this job before we are looking for tips and hints to make the job easier.

Can the unit be dropped in one go ? ie remove the front axle and drop all in one go or is too tight.

The gearbox was out 5 months ago to replace the clutch so everything that end has been out before.

The ECU was not supplied so the current ECU will need the new injector codes programed in, but that should not be an issue.

Cheers

Drop the box, that's straight forward even better if you have it on a lift, and have a gearbox jack.

Remove the rad, intercooler, air con if fitted, so the engine can come out forwards. You could probably leave it in place but it'll give you more space to work, and make it easier in the long run.

Start by removing the air box pipe work, etc.
The Puma loom is fairly straightforward to remove, these need to go back in Exactly the same place as it was routed.
Otherwise you will get rub throughs latter in service.
Take clear photos if you like, of how the cables sit, and are placed through, and around ancillarys.

Go in with a clear head, use logic and you will be fine.

All the plugs on the loom will only fit the correct connector, so don't worry too much if you loose your way a bit!

Once you have removed remaining pipe work, fuel and water, engine mounts etc, simply crane it out through the front.

Cover all fuel pipes on the engine, and the engine bay with latex gloves or similar,
Keep it clean as much as you can.

Then simply start all over again in reverse.

Swap injectors, or re code, get some small injector O rings, for the leak off pipes, the green ones as sometimes these can split on re fitting.

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.
