Heater advice needed
Heater misbehaving blows nice and hot then goes cold for a bit then warm especially bad if fan on max shame as heater is one of the few things that has allways worked on her any advice would be appreciated Endeavour To Persevere

Check the coolant level. This is a very common symptom of the coolant level having dropped slightly.

Isn’t this relatively normal in winter? I have a radiator grill screen to help stabilise it when the temperature drops to zero ish Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

Doesn't sound normal at all Confused The efficiency of the heater on the Puma models is one of its best features and provides a steady stream of toasty hot air.. Darren

It blows out volumes of very warm air until the outside temperature drops to zero and below, then it fluctuates when driving with high interior fan assistance. it’s been the same since I’ve owned it, and to be honest I have always thought it normal. Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

Checked coolant this morning
Level OK but header tank still presurised
A bit even though cold is this normal
Also dash temp gauge not
Reaching middle after running
At tick over for 15 mins? Endeavour To Persevere

England 1999 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Alaska White
Not sure about puma but tdi’s and td5 all cool down below normal running temp at tickover especially if heater is blowing as well. Diesels do run more thermally lower than a petrol especially at tickover not uncommon in a lot of modern cars that have dual heater matrices the temp in engine can reduce significantly if both are run at full chat. Hence the need for rad muffs

My 08 110 does similar with engine temp, doesn't seem to heat up much during tickover but as soon as it's on the road it warms up quickly, if I leave it running once I'm back the engine temp drops off slowly.
