Canada 2000 Defender 110 Td5 SW Bonatti Grey
power steering pump
Close to turning the 200,000km mark on my 110 and the power steering pump is leaking and in need of replacement.

Several options out there, from an expensive Genuine one, to lower priced Bearmach, Britpart, Allmakes etc.

Any recommendations / experience as the preferred replacement? Don't mind spending on the Genuine if it's a superior part, but if any of the less expensive ones are comparable quality, I would prefer to save my money to spend in other places. it's a Landrover thing...

I confess I went for a Britpart item and it has and continues to do what it is meant to do without leaking Rolling Eyes The quality was good and IIRC it was made in the UK as well Shocked

Bearing in mind that the PAS pump also drives the water pump it might be worth buying a replacement one of those as well. For what they cost, you'd kick yourself if you got in there and noticed a weeping seal. Plus it is a great time to do a full engine flush and coolant refresh ready for those hot Vancouver summers Thumbs Up

Oh and a spare drive belt for your stocks too.

I bought an OEM one from flatdog in september 2017, ~30k miles ago. It's doing it's job just fine!

OEM POWER STEERING PUMP QVB101350G ( x1 @ £124.38 each) £124.38

Ebay seller rr_steering does a seal and gasket kit for the original Hobourn pump. About the £25 mark. Done a few now and they work great. Had loads of issues with aftermarket pumps, zero issues with rebuilt originals Thumbs Up

Before committing to replace/refurbish. Have a check for any backlash between the PAS pump and water pump. I found the drive coupling between the two had worn down substantially on mine (waterpump shown but PAS pump was almost the same:
