What are you wanting the storage for? A drawer system is good for smaller items but obviously is no use for any large item.
The flatdog system you mention is pretty much a copy of the old mantec/lr cage system that was used on the G4 110’s. I’ve never used one so can’t comment on how good they are I previously had a shelf across the tub with the spare tyre flat underneath it, and found it slightly annoying as was slightly too high to comfortably put stuff on the top. I currently have a couple of wolf boxes for small items, the rest of the items (hi lift, tow bar attachments, etc.) have all ended up having their own specific place which makes use of the awkward spaces as I have an internal roll cage in the back which makes everything 10x more awkward |

As Jimbo asks, it really does depend on what you want to store. As a general purpose solution, I made a deck to span between the wheel arches, which gives a nice, wide, flat platform and space under for storage boxes or similar. No drilling required to fit, either. This is in a 110 USW but the principal would also work for a 90, of course:

We fitted a set of these into the back of my partners 110 (the lad area is about the same size as a 90) and they are great.
The logos are very discreet and the system is flexible in that you can remove the self(s) if needed. The side areas are great and hold an amazing amount of things, and as they are mesh you can bungie items there as well. They are easy to fit but I stuck some foam tape under the shelf slots to stop any possible rattling. As you can see from the photo my partner carries a wide range of items in the cages which would be rattling arround in the boot. Thanks everyone.
its not for any real expedition purposes (thought its nice to dream) its everything from supermarket shopping to carting building material and car parts around. Currently, the fold up seats just take up too much space and are at risk of damage. With them removed, if the vehicle had 90-degree wheelboxes then I'd just put a deck over, but with their 45-degree sloping sides I see where the cages would come into their own. I hadn't realised there was a mantec variant. I'll confess a 90-version from mantec would be the dream as I'm a sucker for OEM parts. Wyvern - your setup looks really neat, is that a Flatdog version? Similarly, LRA - If I could find a way to square off the sides then a simply piece of trailer board over the top could look really very neat. Yours certainly does. I've just found this post: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39220.html which gives some good pic of the seat removal process. I'm looking at the curved stepped down parts of the wheelboxes and wondering if I could make a length of something (maybe a series of cheaply CNC'd ribs to support a top) to neatly sit in the recess to square it up, while bolting into the redundant seat mounts - thereby allowing me to fit a tray straight across. |

Have a look at the pictures in the link that I gave. The rear end of a USW is exactly the same as a SW, with the shaped wheel boxes for seats. Overcoming it was quite easy and enabled a completely flat floor. Darren

lovely! In that case, that might well give me the easy approach I had hoped for.
Thank you folks. I'll whip the seats out and will look to find a solution based on the advice above. |

Those are old Mantec ones bought off a forum member - my partner refurbished them with hematite paint before fitting and they are very robust.
