Please don't be put of by this case as its far from the norm! True altruism is hard to find but some individuals do give up their kidney to people they don't know (for no financial reward)and they are true giants of the human race. I know in this country that altruistic donors statistically go on to live happy lives with with one kidney and if they do fail they get put to the top of the transplant list. Very brave and special people as I know I couldn't do it! One of my work colleagues gave up one of her kidneys anonymously and told no-one .. she is a medical physicist and i know she looked at all the risks and went ahead anyway! |

I understand that there are wonderful people who will donate an organ to a family member or friend. Indeed I know a couple of people who have done so. I was not poking fun or belittling those special people. Indeed I carry an organ donor card myself so when I die anything that is useful can be taken.
The person in the photo was/is not in that category. I meant it as a bit of fun. Apologies for any offence caused. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

No offence taken !Its a great gift to give ones kidney to a family member or friend ..but I was talking about those special individuals who donate their kidneys anonymously to somebody they don't know! I know I wouldn't do it .
knighthoods and the like need to be given to those type of individuals and not civil service mandarins just doing their job! |
