Spot. Flood or Combination lights
I have had a search but I cannot find any topics covering which is best and where suited ie roof A bar etc I am after upgrading mine as they are not very bright I like the look of the lights I have on but cannot decide which is best to go for they will be used mainly for the use on country roads and when it is safe enough to use and for when I am in the yard at work etc I am inclined to go for the 8" Combination but only because it is duel purpose.

I had KC Daylighter LED spot lights, but I preferred driving with the Rigid Industries flood lights, it’s nice to see miles up the road, but floods cover enough at Defender speeds in my experience. (But both is of course better!)

I still have my KC’s, but they’ve rusted after one winter.

Thanks again I have just had a look at the Rigids but i don't think they do 8" round ones to keep the look I have. I won't be getting them till the end of January so I still have time to look around.

They are adjustable by screwing the surround and it’s attached reflector in or out.

I have a pair of Lightforce LED driving lights. They have replaceable lens covers for spot/flood. I’m tempted to do one of each, but I haven’t tried it yet.

I like abit of both.

Even at defender speed I like some spot beam pattern lights to be able to see deer etc right down the road and flood to be able to see what's immediately around the front of the vehicle.

I would warn against putting any sort of flood type light on the roof. You'll get a lovely reflection from the bonnet and find you can see less with them on than off! 110 Td5 Van

Absolutely personal choice, driving circumstances and depends what funds allow.

Obviously.

For instance, around these parts (being north wales back of beyond) where the roads are never straight or flat the beam pattern of choice is a combination flood spot. So width and moderate distance. This allows for edge illumination when taking corners and depth of illumination should there be dastardly sheep milling about outside their fields. Rolling Eyes

The choice of classic round spots or flat LED bar was a tough decision. Love the twin round spots in front of the radiator panel, but figured this time the extra air flow might be worth the loss of a classic look.

If I had the budget then I would have chosen something from Laser lamps as they are amazing. But instead funds allowed for a budget setup, so I currently have a WOWLED light bar under the soft A-bar. As budget as you can possibly get and probably the perfect light pattern for these parts. It is a a very diffuse light with decent depth of illumination. Excellent when green lining at night, good corner edge illumination but ideally it would be a little more focused, but beggars can't be choosers and all.

For what they cost I cannot recommend the WOWLEDs enough. Cheap and two years on they still look and work like new Thumbs Up

I’ve got some IPF combo spot/flood halogens. They are more than adequate in terms distance and have good spread. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
