Inexpensive security tweak
As I'm sure you all know, the right hand wing vent is held on by a few self-tapping screws. Undoing these removes the vent and provides access to the engine bay and the bonnet cable. You can swap out the plain self-tappers for security ones. However, I purchased a set of security driver bits off Amazon for ten quid, not exactly secure. There are various plates available from the usual suspects that can be riveted in place.

A quick and inexpensive option is to replace the self-tappers with machine screws and nylon nuts. Security drive or nit, it does not matter. Once loosened the screw is going to turn forever, unless you can get a spanner on the nylon nut inside the bonnet. A few stainless screws and nuts are available for a few quid.

That's one of the early jobs that I did to mine, although since replaced with a snorkel connection.

It's also worth securing the bonnet release cable at the grill end, too:

Thanks for the tip on the slam panel cable guard, however I've already done that one.

I feel so inadequate now, I don't have a bonnet release cable 😉

I haven’t got one either. Are you suggesting that my looped cable tie sticking out of the grille is not good enough Mo? Crying or Very sad
