Mike.....this is true sadly ..... but soon we won't be able to drive our 20 plus year old land rovers around our local area ...... emission charges are coming to most large towns and cities sooner than you think..... I run a 110 commercial for wrk its a 1996 Tdi and perfect for plodding around but London is a no go now at £100+ per day and rumour has it our large town will follow suit sooner than most people think.. Have fun be happy

Tompoole I do sympathise with you guys directly affected by all this but its just my general view on the whole thing, we need to get away from the disposable society in many different ways, no offence intended
It just all seems so short sighted by the government, I think evs will cause longer term issues in the future, the of case putting all the eggs in one basket I think without looking at any other alternatives. |

When I look at the meltdown in the electricity supply pricing that has gone on over the past few weeks, it really worries me that we are being pushed towards an all electric vehicle and heating future.
Talk about having all our eggs in one basket. Its all well and good going green but if it drives most of us in the UK into fuel poverty whilst other parts of the world continue to generate most of the harmful emissions, then something is very wrong. |

Those are salary sacrificed rates. So you need to add relevant income tax percent to compare to general lease rates.

Just keep out of the cities, they are soon learning that it means the town or city goes bankrupt.
Bath for example, ran by morons and now the city streets are pretty much empty. Christmas market etc cancelled out, covid rates worst in the country, shops closed, jobs gone. Just to name but a few things. I do feel for those that do need a bit of both for work etc, just remember we all know who started it. It’s just what China and another state want, to weaken the US & UK economy. I never thought I’d see freedom, and freedom of choice at risk. There should be no reason why everyone can’t have what they want, but everything has to be an argument apparently in modern times. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

funny thing is, i was at nissan, last week, checking car parts before they were picked to go online.
Nissan were making more Quashi and Juke, compared to the Leaf. The orders for the Leaf at work have jumped up, but they are no where near as demanding as the Quashi. So i am not really sure if the other countries etc are really that hot with this EV thing either. Everything is practically made on the cheap now, you want to see how cheaply made nissan cars are. Nothing is put together to last now at all. We do need to bring back the days of repairing items again. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

They may be being made more cheaply, but retail prices look to be hardening for some:
"BMW and Daimler pledge to keep prices high when chip crisis ends Carmakers Daimler and BMW separately plan to limit the volume of premium models they ship even once the industry-wide chip shortage eases, in a bid to lock in the hefty price increases they have achieved during the pandemic. “We will consciously undersupply demand level[s],” Harald Wilhelm, Daimler’s chief financial officer told the Financial Times, “and at the same time we [will] shift gears towards the higher, the luxury end.” BMW had “seen a significant improvement in pricing power in the last 24 months,” said chief financial officer Nicolas Peter in a separate interview. The Munich-based carmaker’s plan was “clearly to maintain . . . the way we manage supply to maintain our pricing power on today’s level,” he added. This would be through a number of measures including digitally tracking customer demand. “The pandemic has really opened everyone’s eyes — that a different paradigm is possible,” said Arndt Ellinghorst, an analyst at Bernstein. “Everyone loves it, including dealers.” Discounts typically offered to customers at dealerships — usually around 15 per cent in mature markets — have been slashed, with some models being sold above sticker price. A one percentage point decrease in the average discount would release $20bn in extra profits for car manufacturers, according to Ellinghorst, and discounts in Europe and the US have dropped by at least double that amount from their pre-pandemic peak. BMW’s Peter said that the group’s US dealers, “always claimed . . . well we need the cars in the showroom, the customer is expecting to pop in on Saturday morning, 10am, and he wants to leave with everything done, fixed number plates on the car at 1pm latest.” Now, however, they say “customers are ready to wait three to four months, and this is helping our pricing power,” he added. “Of course the waiting time must not be too long, but if you buy a premium car like a BMW, it’s an emotional decision . . . to have a short waiting time is something, I believe, which makes the customer experience even greater and better.” The increased pricing power has already fed through to the bottom lines for BMW and Daimler. Mercedes achieved a 12.2 per cent return on sales in the last reported quarter, up from 8.4 per cent in the same period in 2018 — the last measure not affected by the pandemic or diesel emissions litigation costs. BMW’s margin reached almost 16 per cent, up from 8.6 per cent. https://www.ft.com/content/f55a1d96-1146-4e17-88a9-1a0fbaf57de6 |
