That's an interesting comment! I was looking for the General Grabber AT3's but had to visit a farming friend today who owns two Defender 90's and a 110 and he swears by the Mitchelin Latitude and the Continental Cross Track AT.

The Mitchelin also has good ratings for wet conditions, road noise and economy.

Sadly now the jury is out for me between the Grabber AT3 and the Mitchelin Latitude and price wise they are both within a few pounds of each other £130 > £133

I had the Continental Conti Tracs prior to the Michelins on one of the Puma 110's. When the Conti Tracs came up for replacement there were non available in the 235/85/16 size so I went for the Michelins. Good as the Conti Tracs are the Michelins are a much more comfortable tyre with no loss performance and are very good in the rain. Unless you are up to your bonnet in muck a la Camel Trophy antics the Michelins will see you through, including snow.
I had General Grabber (the old style) on one of the Pumas but the Michelins are a much more comfortable and quiet tyre. A very good all around tyre. Does not look aggressive but it is a capable tyre. I am pleased with mine. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

After two pages of replies (Much appreciated) to my request I've just ordered:

Five Mitchelin Latitude 235/85/R16's from Kwik-Fit Lowestoft for £700.75 fully fitted etc.

Kwik-fit are giving 20 percent off these (and other) Mitchelin tyres right now.

Well today was the day Very Happy Just had five Mitchelin Latitude Cross fitted by Kwik Fit, tyre was on offer and they ended up being £700.25 fully fitted (£140.05 Each).

What a difference driving home ... felt like the lord of the road! 2010 Defender 90 300Tdi CW (White/1994)

On our two Puma 110 station wagons I have 28psi in the front tyres and 35psi in the rear (no heavy towing). 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Hi Spudfan .... thanks for the tyre pressure comment. Kwick Fit set 30 and 38 psi's off their chart.

Provided your Defender is not loaded to the gills or towing a loaded horse box you can go as low as 32psi in the rear. Land Rover regard the 28psi front and the 32psi rear as their "comfort setting". I use 35 psi as standard rear pressure. So for general everyday use the 28/35 will be fine. Even loaded with holiday gear it is fine. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
