That tank is for a 90. Please note there are 2 versions so TD5/early TDCi is 50mm pipe and later TDCI is 60mm. Please check VIN number to ensure you get right tank.
Have a look here Best to allow a decent amount of time, say a full day so you have plenty of time to do it. They can be fitted in about 4-5 hours. Start with minimal fuel in the tank. Fiddly rather then awkward is fitting the balance pipe. Need to drill a hole in main tank. Thread stiff wire through and fish it out via main filler hole. A fitting needs sliding down the wire and fished through the drilled hole. Hope that makes sense. Brendan |

In all honesty, I wouldn't bother unless you want to put a LOT of time and effort into it for very little reward.
They are an absolute PITA to fit, the figures quoted for the capacity are total, not increased, and the tank replaces the original filler pipe that holds a good amount of fuel already. We found ours gives us around an additional 20 litres in real world use, the 30 litres is very much a theoretical figure of what the tank could hold in total. In practice the shape of the tank and the fact it removes the filler pipe that already holds around 5 litres results in 20 litres extra. The filler is below the top of the tank so actually completely filling the tank with a normal fuel pump is almost impossible and the biggest cross sectional area is at the top and it air locks. After 3 years, ours sprung a leak at the back of the long section in the wheel arch. We're currently having to only partially fill the main tank as a result until I pluck up the courage to remove the thing and bin it. I need to replace the pipes that installation requires you to cut and find the original filler pipe first ! If you do get one, keep that pipe somewhere safe ! The tank comes with a very poorly treated/coated steel "guard", the paint/coating on ours had pretty much gone altogether after 6 months, really bad quality, same with the bracket that holds the front part to the tub. If you do fit one, strip off the coating it's supplied with and paint it properly with a decent zinc primer as painting it afterwards isn't ideal. If you use the vehicle with larger than 30 inch diameter tyres and use the vehicle off road, the tyres will catch/rub on the tank, that may be why ours cracked. I'll know for sure when I remove it. Fitting an additional tank under the driver's seat is actually much cheaper and gives you far more capacity. We have both and I'd not bother with the "long range tank" again. From memory, adding the second tank under the driver's seat cost around £250 including a galvanised tank guard and all the fittings including a changeover valve and gives around 55 litres extra fuel versus around 20 litres for £300. Alternatively, a 20 litre jerry can gives you the same benefit for a fraction of the price ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Thanks, I wanted to avoid the Jerry can route, so this options seems a lot of hassle.... having done 3 runs into France, Italy, and Croatia, just wanted to look at other options, guess I will have stop more often.

Had mine fitted by Challenger 4x4 in Aldershot before driving to Croatia last year. I know its a cost but it does make life
a lot easier and less smelly than jerry cans. They also changed that small breather pipe that perishes after three years or so for a decent one. Plus you never have issues with jobsworth Customs guys who decide to levy taxes on 'Additional fuel cans', although that depends on how far you intend to go |

I took a Jerry can on the roof and yes, the Croatian toll booth takers busted me too, twice, over height.

Another point is that on my Puma the seat box of the drivers side is full of fuseboxes and electrics so its a bit different
from Davew's one i think. |

Mine also had an engine ECU, fuse box and wiring looms under the driver's seat so I moved them out of the way first as that also improves reliability for wading and reduces the risk (on a TD5) of oil in the loom getting to the ECU connector. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Not sure how much of a job it is on a Puma, on the TD5 you have to extend 3 wires (difflock switch, hi/lo switch and hand brake warning) but other than that it's just a case of rerouting the wiring looms. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

I've had the Frontrunner one installed since the vehicle was bought new in 2010. Not a single issue or leak since then.
