Hi, try looking at this site to see if it helps:
https://www.lrworkshop.com/wiring-looms/de...om-td5-rhd From the site above it could be the rear heated window or washer.... |

It’s a header, rather than a connector per se, so it only serves to join common wires together in a circuit. It looks like it was black as were the wires leading into it so it would most likely be an earth header.

Might actually be the cause as I can see some ugly green corrosion that might have caused some high resistance, then melting....I think this has been reported on this board in the past.

It is one of the diseases of Td5, the only solution is to eliminate these connectors or join them with cables and wrap them in heat shrinkable tube. The problem comes from the connectors, especially the ground one, the contacts get hot and come out on fire. It happened to me in Tunisia but I managed to get home and eliminate the connectors, all the connectors.

Are they all the same polarity? i.e can they all be joined together as one or does the header contain multiple joints that need to be kept separated? Assuming all the wires are earth, I would check all earthing points in case one went bad and the current got diverted to the header, overloading it. |

Can confirm that the connector is actually blue and not black and not all the cables going into it are black, I've got black, brown/blue, light green and a couple I haven't tracked down to some sheathing yet .... Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb

In RAVE in electrical part, there is description of these headers, together with schematics.
I hade just replaced the header blocks with proper made soldered joints, covered in heatshrink tubes. No more problems. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

Yup thats the plan. Started off thinking about chunkier connector blocks but going down the solder route

Unfortunately they're not all earth wires, you've got 4 groups of wires Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb Gertie - 1999 110 TD5 - like a Phoenix from the ashes back on road... almost Effie - 2004 110 TD5 County |
