Replacing external lighting question
My 1998 300tdi is in the bodyshop to tidy a few bits and I would like to renew all the external lights.

I'm no rivet counter but looking to stay generally OEM and not LED.

Am I correct in thinking WIPAC brake, side, rear and indicators would have been OEM at that time?

I'll worry about headlights separately, but probably go with WIPAC Crystals. Not sure yet about side repeaters.

But, I am wondering if these from H Bowers are really likely to be Perei, OEM, Genuine? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232246994708?ss...1438.l2649

I have seen a NOS (square) reversing light that definitely shows Perei on the lens but can't find a matching fog and my OCD won't deal with that well if they don't match Rolling Eyes

Need help please Confused Rob

LE Perei we’re the original supplier, Wipac will be aftermarket.

The difference in quality is quite noticeable so I would definitely go with the original LEP ones.

Thanks, there's a quite a few eBay sellers claiming WIPAC to be OEM Rolling Eyes

Any suggestions where I can source the LEP items, then I can decide if I can justify the undoubted extra cost Question

Thumbs Up

That’s because OEM is a completely meaningless term - Wipac are an OEM in that they have supplied items that have been fitted to some vehicles at some point in time, which is all that’s required to meet that definition.

The last ones I bought came from Land Rover. I did away with the crappy square fog and reverse and retro-fitted the later round type. Much better lighting and somewhat less scope for water ingress, just needs an adaptor harness to fit to the older looms.
