Good evening all, my new to me Defender runs great, but it has an issue with oil being sprayed on the inside of the bonnet. Obviously this can't be a good thing, so I'm trying to figure out where it may come from. Any ideas from you lot who know a lot more about Defenders than I do? Photos in the gallery.
Thanks! Niels |

Thank you for your help. After reading up on it, this seems the most likely cause, I’ll order the parts tonight. Thank you

So I replaced the brake vacuum pump, which has sorted the issue, i think. Only problem now is a sort of zinging noise which wasn’t there before, so I must have done something wrong…. But other than that, replacing it was fairly easy… Just that annoying brake vacuum pipe. Nightmare to get it off, but figured it out in the end. Just pull and keep on pulling.

You've got to push the collar in while pulling the tube out. That fitment is common on printing presses which is how I knew what to do. It's a clever design but takes a bit of head scratching to figure out.
