Light tapping noise/sand from top of windscreen/roof area
First, my July 2020 build P400 HSE is outside the affected VIN # of the A pillar trim fix.

At speeds of 75mph or higher, I have a constant, tapping, sifting sand type noise coming from the sunglasses holder area, where the roof meets the front windscreen. I do have the Explorer pack with the Expedition rack, and wondering whether its the rack.

Could be or it might be a loose roof rail. There is a small section on both sides toward the front of the roof, someone in the Facebook group removed that section to fit a light bar but in doing so snapped the bracket and to get a replacement LR have told him he would need to order the whole roof rails again as they don’t supply then separately. Check if they are secure on yours from when the dealership fitted your expedition rack. I know they are not very good quality and snap easily. Someone I know is going to try 3D print nylon ones which would be a lot stronger.

Hi

Did you ever get to the bottom of this noise?

I have the D300... and for last 3 weeks its developed a new noise when you get above around 85MPH

Its Like a fluttering noise at the top of the windscreen / roof.

I do not have a roof rack or roof rails.

All trims seem in place and connected OK.

Maybe its the A Pillar noise? - but its only at high speed and the sound is the top of the screen / roof - not at the side.

THANKS

Thanks

Did the noise sound like it was from the A Pillar - or Top of the Screen?

From the driver’s seat, it sounds like it’s coming from the top of the windshield, near the rear view mirror assembly. But from the passenger’s seat, it’s clearly coming from the A-pillar. 2020 Defender 110 P400 HSE (Tasman Blue/Khaki)
