Even the distance between the midpoint of the little locking cutouts on the roof rails rather roof bars would do. Just trying to see whether my existing bike rack is going to work or not.

I took my crossbars off a couple of weeks ago but there are several options for fitting them - shorter distance between them or longer distance between them…… you might have to enlarge this photo too see the three mounting slots.

Hi Tim
Thanks for your reply. I thought there was only one configuration for the roofbars based on the 2 smaller cutouts on the inside edge of the roof rails. I picked that up from this link section 10 .. http://accessories-instructions.landrover....r/G2409809 If you could measure the roof rails between the midpoint of the smaller cutouts on the inside edge of the roof rails that would give me the answer and be really helpful .. thanks for your help on this. Having fixed points for the cross bars seems really odd as I'd have thought the whole point of the roof rails that the bars can be fitted anywhere along their length, if the width is suitably adjusted. That's certainly the way they work on a Discovery and RRS. Darren

That’s exactly what I thought, but the fitting instructions indicate they have only one fixed place, same with this video ..
A bit disappointing as depending on the load you might want to spread them out a bit. I want to use my existing 2 part cycle rack (fork mount and wheel mount) so the distance between the bars is pretty important for this to work. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

Centre to centre of the small cut outs is 700mm, also my apologies, there is only one mounting position as there is no small cutout behind the rearmost slot

I suppose if you get the ones optioned at the dealer you’re locked into just a few locations for the roof bars. I just ordered the parts from Thule myself. I like the look of mine better as well plus I can place the bars at any location along the tracks. |
