Bumper fixing plate - which one
I have taken off my front bumper, but the fixing plates are beyond repair as one has half a bolt seized in it and none have the spring clips.

I have noticed there are two available - ones with the spring clip and ones shaped like a"T".

Any opinions on which is best?

Also, how does the "T" one fit. I presume it slides through the gap behind the bulged part of the dumb iron?

Thanks in advance.

Mick

I’ve used both, the spring ones are a bit easier to fit as they clip onto the bumper, the T shaped ones just slot in between the jacking point and the bumper.
My bumper is currently mounted using nuts and bolts all round.

I wouldn’t say any method is better or worse than the other really.

Thanks Jimbo, I appreciate your time. I think I will make myself the T version as I just need to put back the bumper until I can fabricate some dumb irons. I then want to fabricate my own bumper - but other essential maintenance and projects first!!!

No problem, it’s what the forum is here for

Would be easy enough to make a space, they are only a drilled and tapped plate after all

Be good to see what bumper you come up with 👍

I have an idea of what I want to produce. I am a bit of a tinkerer/fabricator. I an not supper bling nor off-road, I am more practical minded

This is all currently a pipe dream, but I am considering a front bumper and rear bumperette combination. I need to consider the strength of the chassis and rear cross member as want to look at supporting the vehicle from it. It would include its own "axle stands" but supporting from the bumpers. I don't like using stands on the chassis! My thoughts are lifting the chassis safely for doing my own maintenance.

I expect to do a chassis swap sometime in the future, so I want everything I do to be transferrable.

I also want a swing away carrier incorporated in the rear.

But I need to sort the dumb irons and finish my rocksliders first!!
