Hi guys i need a new injector loom is it best to go genuine Land Rover ?

I replace mine every few years, just to make sure no problems. I buy genuine LR one, but the pop the cap off the internal connector and fill with sealer, to stop oil migration.

Peace of mind really. I’m sure I read somewhere years ago they were a service item? Originally I did have one fail, no oil in the red plug but down to 4 cylinders, and have just routinely changed it every couple of years since. |

When I built my 110 back in 2010, I had a used engine in it from Porny, it already had about 70k miles, so I sprayed the back of the plug with brake cleaner to de-grease it and then just smeared plenty of tigerseal all over it.
It's been fine (touch wood) ever since. |

Original one, but I have good experience (more than 10 years on my own cars) with "repair" of the looms - remove loom from engine, press the connector contacts a bit, to make them tight, replace 2 o-rings on the connector from head out, to stop engine oilleaking into cables.
Some cheap looms were working only for few weeks - the pins in connectors were made from too thin or soft metal. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

I bought a Britpart loom from Paddocks and posted it here a few years back with photos of the connectors and construction details. All experts on D2 concluded it was an original loom in a plain box with all appropriate TTE connectors and wire markings and identical to the Genuine Land Rover item. That was a few years back though. Patrick |

Thats one part i do not mind getting a non genuine item as i changed it with each oil change just because its a cheap enough part not too!

As I have my ecu mounted on the divider behind my head, I wonder if I should make a sump for the loom.
In the 11.5 years of ownership I have only changed it once about nine years ago……perhaps gravity is on my side….. |

I changed it in 2009 when I bought it. I had oil in the loom and ecu. So with the sale came a new injector, engine loom and a ECU.
I sealed the connector off the injector loom and no problems yet. My ECU is placed on the bulikhead between the seats as high as I could get with the original engine loom. Only the difflock wire had to be extended. As mentioned above, 11 years without problems.
I bought my Defender (my2003) in 2010 with 85000km on the clock, since last week (189000km) I realiced misfire and less power. And at the plug was black oil. I had an idea: additional to the typical tasks like new loom and connectors at the 7 wires close to the ecu plug I removed the rubber seal in the red plug and drilled a few small holes in the red ECU connector, to give the oil an easy way out of the plug. pics are attached Oilless wishes from Germany Peter Last edited by hydraulic_landy on 20th Jan 2022 5:31am. I generally buy the OEM branded ones rather than genuine. The last one I bought came in a Britpart box but was a proper OEM spec Leoni loom with the ITT Canon branded connector.

Hi,
the loom part number is AMR6103 you should also exchange the gasket for the rocker cover, thats LVP000020. The gasket could be differend, depending on the My Peter |
