Hello roche1800
Yes... all out (all 9 rear windows) Tinted and back in. For mine, the decision was driven by the best approach to Wrap the Roof. Absolutely will be down to the quality of shop that get's the Job, mine was done just prior to buying it, so I got to inspect all areas...my Interior was also 'uplifted', so seeing a good job, strangely underlined the 'it's ok to change what is less than ideal or you just don't like the look of. Shop around and get confidence first... ideally with someone who has had their hands on a Defender Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Good Luck SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

I’m interested in the answer to this. When I tinted the windows in my early TD5 I removed all the glass to do it (and didn’t tint the alpine lights). Removing the sliding windows necessitated drilling out all of the rivets holding the frames in. Now I want to tint my late model TDCi and will be getting a professional to do it. Mainly this is because I have assumed that the sliding windows will have to be tinted in situ because the later frames are bonded in and not riveted. I don’t have the skill to cut the film invisibly in situ.
I’ve not heard of pros removing glass before applying tinting film regardless of whether it is bonded, retained by a rubber gasket or sliding so I assumed it was always done in situ. Cheers, Guy. |
