I would pull the head and see from there. You never know what you buy if you go secondhand.
For the ECU I believe you can change to the newer ecu on the older engine. However a discovery ecu might not work. Thanks for reply Roel thinking along the same lines myself now, as finding a good 15P engine here will be a struggle and not cost effective to bring from the UK anymore as a result of Brexit

Hi,
I had the head gasket go on my W reg TD5 at 99k miles. As mentioned above, I bought the head gasket and head rebuilt kid from Turner engineering. Also put the metal head dowels In which were also from turner. I had the head skimmed, although only a tiny bit. Some people say you shouldn't have it done but ive had no problems since. Whilst there I replaced the Injector loom also. I done this all myself as I am quite mechanically minded and it was fairly straight forward. Plenty of guides online if you are going to tackle it. |
