Have you thought now might be the time to change the engine for something maybe a bit better?
Maybe a BMW M57?
Easy to do any would most certainly add value and fun to your motor.
Conversions bits are readily available. Thumbs Up

Watching with interest as I have a similar oil leak and it’s going in on Friday. Part of me want them to tell me it’s a new engine job so I can stick a m57 in or maybe even a V8! The other part of me that looks after the finances has a different opinion!

Took my 2.2 to the garage for an oil leak and they've come straight back with a quote for a new engine needed as it is 'breathing heavy' when pushed they couldn't tell me what the issue actually was, just that it needed replacing.... for £8k Shocked

Why consider their advice ? You were in for an oil leak - nothing else - just pull yourself together man

Did they help you out ?

If yes, I'd just enjoy and wait if I noticed any engine problems
If not, I'd take it to a professional garage in order to get the oil leak fixed

Good luck Thumbs Up
