Looking very impressive though. I was envious before the rebuild - not sure I want to see the finished product now as I'll never own one Big Cry

Got some of my body parts going for paint in the next week or so. Got me hyped! Stuart

3 Years ago, and after a few years of searching, I found the last lightweight, 05KD65, on ebay, looking a little jaded. It spent 10 years with the Red Arrows at RAF Scampton and supported the team at various events in the UK and abroad, regularly hitching a lift in the Hercules to the overseas shows.

It still had its red arrows paint job but it hadn't received much love with the previous owner and had been off the road for a number of years.

Had it not been this particular vehicle, I would have got back on the train and left it with him.

After an unpleasant 100mile trip back down the M1 in the rain, at 45 mph due to a misfire, I eventually got it home..

SWMBO was less than impressed.
The kids were a bit more scathing....

Anyway, this afternoon it comes back from a 6 month rebuild which has involved hundreds of hours of labour. Virtually everything original has been reused. Every nut and bolt has been off the truck, all panels and brackets stripped and repainted.

Will post some pics of the result later today Smile

Can't wait to see it, everything looks great so far.

I know lots will be wondering and I'll address the elephant in the room so if you're that way inclined care to share a ballpark figure of the costs involved? Appreciate if you'd rather not of course....

Couple of last minute snagging issues so lightweight delayed a week or so.

Wooaaah that red looks fantastic!

Is it the same paint as when it left the factory, as in did you know the paint code/name?

Or is it something cool like Red Arrows Red? Very Happy Stuart

The attention to detail is far beyond anything i would have achieved, especially as virtually all of the original components have been retained, so dont mind waiting another week or so for the finished article
