Battery vent plugs

A bit of advice please people.

Fitted a new battery to my sisters Ford Cmax. Original Ford battery had a vent plug on the positive end and open at the negative end.
The new battery, a Yuasa only had a vent plug at the positive end.
The instructions for the new battery said remove both if fitted, so I have.

Just wondered why the Ford one had a vent plug at the positive end and nothing at the negative end, yet the instructions for the new one say remove both(but only one...)
