I've gone and pulled the hydraulic ZF4HP22 out of my defender to swap with a later electronically controlled box.
So I have 1X ZF4HP22 Hydraulic Box 1X TD5 bell housing Standard TD5 torque convertor and flex plate, spacer and bolts kickdown cable and mount where it comes through the firewall. I had to cut the kickdown bar off the pedal so will need reattaching Gearbox works fine selects all gears. I do have an invoice for a gearbox rebuild that was done on the box 20k miles ago. You'll need a shifter. I reused the Discovery 1 shifter. But I do have a D2 shifter but no cable to box for that. So if you fancy converting your TD5 to a cheap auto you can take the lot for £200 |

Just thought I'd put a list of all the extra bits you'll need to fit the box to your TD5. I reused some of the parts on the upgrade
so you'll need to buy Gearbox cooler and pipe work Auto flywheel blanking foam for gearstick hole Rubber boot to cover the foam A D1 shifter or a cable for the D2 shifter Centre console Larger pedal and rubber to adapt the brake pedal I think thats about it. All can be purchased from Aschrofts. |
