I broke down just before Christmas after the fuel pump had become very noisy. Have replaced pump and filter head, think I have gone through the purge procedure (was probably a little shorter, as filled the filter with diesel before fitting), but she will not start unfortunately... There are no obvious leaks and I checked the new filter head against the old one beforehand, to make sure everything in the stub pipes matched. I know it's a case of how long's a piece of string, but any helpful suggestions before I call in the professionals... Oh and there is around 19 litres of fuel in the tank... Cheers all and have a good evening...

Try starting with your pedal down to floor

Many thanks... I have now gone through the purge procedure perhaps 5 times and no noise to speak of, other than a quietly purring pump.. Hey-ho, looks like I'll have to get it checked by a pro.

I just had the same issue.... you did try with pedal to the floor ...and extra battery hooked up as it takes a while - at least with mine๐

New pump is not the same as good working pump. I have seen not good pumps from new. Try the fuel pressure, best with some pressure gauge, or just umplug the hose with fuel from pump to engine and place it into a canister. With ignition on, there should be large fuel flow from the hose, like 3 liters in one minute. If it is just barely flowing, you have probably half of the pump not working. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufรญnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

Cheers Tom. I am hoping though that given its a new VDO pump it is OK... Will give your suggestion of a basic check a go though... ๐๐
