What does this pipe do?
Just did a big dig-out, clean-up and general service of the DC in preparation for its CT (MOT) before I import it to France. Came across this pipe which was loose, although still attached, as the retaining clip was mis-aligned. There seemed to be quite a bit of sprayed oil around the fixing at the engine (rather than air box) end of the pipe. I cleaned it, refitted it and properly positioned the clip, but what does it do?

It’s the engine breather. Recirculates excess pressure and oil vapour from the engine back into the intake. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
