Anyone got any recommendations for genuine switch engraving?
Basically I'm installing a webasto in my 90 and I want to add a genuine switch to control the heater when parked (momentary press will start the heater for 30 minutes) My plan is to use a heated front screen or fog light switch and then have a switch blank face plate engraved to say HEAT or Webasto or similar - then just swap the face plates over. I don't really want to use a second heated front screen switch with its original icon as it won't sit right with me I'm looking for a factory (or close to) finish - any suggestions? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

You could try asking your local jeweller, they engrave things. It's a little different but the principle is the same.

I was contemplating trying a laser engraver add-on to my 3D printer to do switches before Bearmach/Mud started doing them.
Looks like there might be a market so maybe i should look into it a bit further! Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

I used to be laser marking engineer for a company in the semiconductor industry. I still have access to those laser markers....
The problem is that would need a few switches to test and get the right parameters even though they are set to mark on plastic.. different plastics have different properties. Maybe tempting to order a few AMR5432 . Previous owner simply used a hazard switch from a D2 for the rear working lights.... granted, it works....been tempted to replace it as it annoys me a bit, but then working light switches are readily available, but when I searched they were 3x the price of a blank one. Add shipping costs.. and easily will be as expensive as a full tank of diesel. I just need an on/off supply to a relay!! 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

George - I remembered this old post where a Cruise Control switch was made by scratching off the black paint using a sticker as a template
Could be an idea for a Webasto Logo / Flame symbol ?? the logo would need to be fairly simple
