High beam woes
My high beam began to struggle whilst i was away in Scotland and i'd like to get it sorted.

High beam doesn't work, either pass or full on, however when i engage pass mode ( pull the stalk towards me ) the trailer light flickers and the hazard lights flicker on the dash.

This doesn't happen when i select high beam.

The blue light indicates on the dash that i'd selected high beam, just nothing actually lights up.

I believe i replaced the stalk not that long ago when i had issues with the indicators so i'm thinking along the lines of it being the stalk as it was a BP part anyway, but thought i'd ask in case someone tells me it's the 3 screw from the right after the diff lock selector has been tightened too much on a weekend Laughing

The first thing that comes to mind is the hazard lights switch, but i'm no mechanic/electrician. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Me neither Wink

However, my powers of observation have led me to believe the culprit might be this;

Can anyone with some elastictricky knowledge point me in the direction of replacing the now defunct relays?

The loom is a Landreiziger , however I cannot find the relays alone on their website

Cheers

Are there not numbers on the base to identify from, other than the terminal numbers?

The plug in bases look like those that you'd use with a standard 30amp relay. Darren

I got a close up picture of the base...the pins are bent so you can see the numbers

Going clockwise from the top the numbers are ;

85-36-86-87

Thanks

It's likely 30 rather than 36 and it matches a standard relay:

They should be bog standard relays, widely available. Just check (as LRA says) the pin numbers, these are SAE standard and will confirm the correct part.
