Coolant flush and Hose replacement
My TD5 seems to have baby diarrhoea coolant.

I’m going to drain and flush the system.

I plan to change the hoses as well, but what else is likely to need changing as well? Don’t want to get in there and find other stuff needs doing.

Which hoses do people recommend? OEM or silicone?

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer your question, but while you're at it you also might want to replace this short hose between the heater circuit and the oil cooler. It sits just below the turbo:

Part no for MY05 15p Td5 is PBH101980. One doesn't read often about it, but apparently it is not uncommon for it to burst since it suffers from the turbo heat. I encountered a Td5 with the issue when on holiday two years ago.

I'm not that knowledgeable, but 'baby diarrhoea' sounds like a problem with oil mixing with coolant. That won't be solved just by flushing and replacing the hoses I'm afraid, and having mentioned the oil cooler above: it might just be the culprit (the cooler, not the hose). I hope for you that I'm wrong.

Had mine done in 2018 along with lots of other stuff. Had all hoses (heating and coolant) replaced with genuine and also had the thermostat changed along with the coolant reservoir for good measure.
I'm mot convinced about silicone so left well alone.

Hi Joel,

Replace the thermostat. I did one the other day for a Td5 customer at the local LR Indi garage, and it was full of gunge and rusty water. Easy to do, just 3 hose clips, 👍
