Draining a TD5 fuel tank
newby needs help

what is the easiest way to drain a full tank of diesel before i try to remove the tank to replace the pump

Siphon it out with a length of hose, it's about the only way.

Agree with Blackwolf, there isnt a very easy way. When I have previously drained about 1/4 of a tank from my 110 I have cleaned off the fuel filter and surrounding area then removed the water drain screw from the base of the filter. With a funnel and fuel can beneath, running the pump purge cycle does allow fuel to be drained at a reasonable pace but wouldnt want to do it for a full tank.

Probably cannot run the purge cycle because the tank needs to come out because if a faulty pump.
Otherwise can also plan ahead and run the truck keeping the fuel as low as possible till the day the tank will come out.
