yes the centre diff makes up for different sizes, (don't use diff lock on grippy surfaces though, which you should not anyway as the transmission will wind up very quickly) DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

yes
tyre are fitted new to the rear and rear moved to the front |

Thanks guys, tyres are pretty similar anyway both A/T and fronts are just worn down alot more.

I've actually been running slightly different front and rear diff ratios for 200,000 miles with no ill effects, so provided the difference is not extreme it will do no harm!
The reason for this slightly odd situation is that I have an Ashcroft 3.5:1 HD ring and pinion in the front diff, but the standard P38 3.54:1 ring and pinion in the rear. Last edited by blackwolf on 14th Nov 2020 3:52pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Yes, you won't have a problem unlike some other 4x4s which can need all 4 tyres at once. Cheers

Shouldn't you rather run the new tyres on the front axle, since that's the steering axle? --

Front ones are getting changed next week. Tyre garage couldn't undo one of the front lug nuts for some reason! So my job when the rain stops.
