Best way to graft fence posts together?

I need to extend some fence posts, ideally by cutting them off low down and fitting new posts that match the panels. I really don’t want to have to dig out the concrete bases if I can help it. I have some galvanised 40mm angle that I was planning on using on all 4 corners and contemplated dowling the centre as well. Any thoughts?

I’m assuming these are 100mm wood fence posts. Cut existing and new post at a sharp angle that covers about 18 inches . Wood glue and Clamp them together and then use 75mm number 14 screws thin sides into thick sides. If old post and new post are the same size and you cut accurately and not out of square then you should get a joint that’s strong and not that visible.

Ps. Marking cut on both sides and using a circular saw makes it easier to get a straight and square cut.

Alternatively you can get square box section post joiners as well as angle iron ones.

If you have a trolley jack it’s easy to get the posts out with the big lump of concrete attached without any need to dig

With a graft it will add strength if you drill a big centre hole in both and dowel them. Flat or angled doesn’t matter

You could simply buy post extender joints Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…
